In 2020 the SCEF worked to help SCSD students through what may be one of the most impactful periods of their education, the COVID 19 pandemic.

Addressing Food Security During the Pandemic

Working with school district administration, we helped donors fund meals at home for students that count on school breakfast and lunch every day.  Food security for kids is foundational to their ability to learn and prosper, and the SCEF worked hard to help students and their families find meals.

In addition, with major support from A&J Market, the Community Foundation for SW Washington and local donors, the SCEF raised over $20,000 to support supplemental measures for students over school breaks during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Back to School Supplies for Every Student

The SCEF partnered with the Skamania County Economic Development Council to provide school supplies to all district students for the 2020-2021 school year.

Getting to school with the right tools in hand is a basic need for students.  We helped equip everyone, removing barriers for students with families not have the resources to outfit kids.  Keeping the playing field level in this way has broad impact.

Internet Cafés Support Access to Online Learning

The SCEF assisted with funds to setup internet café locations and provide wireless hotspots for students to access remote learning during fall 2020 when district classes were fully online.
